Folklore
The area is rich in folk arts due to its varying demographics. From the eastern plains of the Sarwat Mountains to the various regions of Tihama and the west coast of Aseer, each region is characterized by its unique folk arts and performances.
Al-Ardah is one of the most famous hubs for folk arts in the region, followed by Al-Khattwa, Al-Taraq, Al-Qazoo’i, Al-Zamel, Al-Rabkha, Al-Masira, Al-Rayeh, and Qilta.
Poetry is an important part of Aseer’s folklore, with poems written about farming, plowing, building and grazing. In the regions of Aseer Al-Tahami, the melodies of reed flute, also known as “the shepherd’s flute,” accompany these poems.
