Diverse Terrain
Aseer owes the diversity of its terrain to its varying altitudes and climatic conditions. The region has some of the highest mountain peaks, representing 34.3% of its area with an altitude range of 2000 to 3000 m.
The coast of Aseer extends 125 km to the west of the Red Sea, encompassing the historic port of Qahma, as well as several small islands overlooking it—Kimble Island being the most famous.
The deserts of Aseer are an important component of its natural landscape with sand dunes spread across Bisha and Tathleeth, while Sarat highlands act as a water dividing line between the coastal valleys of Tihama and the inland valleys. Some of the most famous valleys in the region are Wadi Bisha, Wadi Yabah, and Wadi Heli.
